Hi! I'‘m Julia.
I'm actively seeking roles as a UX Researcher, Applied Scientist, or Research Scientist. If you think I’d be a great fit for your team, please reach out!
About Me:
I’m a mixed-methods UX and design researcher with expertise in digital health, health informatics, and human-computer interaction (HCI). I specialize in qualitative, design, and participatory research methods to envision and create impactful technologies.
In my PhD research at the University of Washington Information School, I explored how integrating youths' stories into digital health tools can empower youth with chronic illnesses to manage their healthcare and life needs. I developed a conceptual framework, identified design insights, and created My Kidney TREK, a digital healthcare journey tool that improved reflection and self-efficacy for youth with kidney transplants. This work strengthened my skills in mixed-methods research, user-centered design, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to create engaging, supportive technologies.
I also hold an MS in Information Science from UW and a BS in Computer Science from Siena College.
